THE CELEBRATION OF 2019 INTERNATIONAL GIRL CHILD DAY IN KWARA, NIGERIA


IN-SCHOOL FEMALE ADOLESCENTS IN KWARA STATE GOT EMPOWERED DURING THE CELEBRATION OF 2019 INTERNATIONAL GIRL CHILD DAY


Impact Driven Initiative for Sustainable Development (IDISD) in collaboration with the Association of Professional Counsellors in Nigeria (APROCON), Kwara State chapter organized a day programme towards celebrating the International Girl Child Day on the 11th of October, 2019. The programme themed, “Girl Force: Unscripted and Unstoppable" held simultaneously at the three different senatorial zones in Kwara state.

With the focus on empowering the girl child for a better future, the programme targeted female secondary school students across the sixteen Local Government Areas of Kwara state. The participants were empowered with moral attitude, entrepreneurial and leadership skills. 

Female educational counsellors from universities spoke on the importance of moral education as a panacea for preparing girl child for a better future. Seasoned female entrepreneurs shared their experiences with the participants on the entrepreneurial journey for women while young leaders imparted leadership skills in the participants using the case studies of model young female leaders around the world.
